Base Isolation for Earthquake Resistance
January 12, 2012 Leave a comment
Base Isolation is one of the most popular ways of protecting structures against earthquakes. It is useful in the design of critical facilities, such as hospitals, which must be fully functional immediately following an earthquake.
Interested Caribbean architects and engineers are invited to register to attend this free 3-day course in Barbados, 1st-3rd February 2012. The course is co-sponsored by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), The Caribbean Division of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and the Council of Caribbean Engineering Organizations (CCEO).
Please note that there is a charge of US$85 for lunches. The second two days are more technical from a structural engineering standpoint, but the first day is more suitable for architects and others who are interested.
